Hey everyone!! Happy New Years!
All I can say is wow, what a day!! There truly is nothing like being in NYC for New Years! The city was packed like sardines with people, it was absolutely freezing (23 degrees with a 0 degree wind chill) and still everyone was out and about celebrating the coming of the new year! Incredible!
Well we Fab Fem girls are no different. The day began with Devorah Kigel talking to us about women and prayer. Following Devorah was our very own Dana who gave us insight into our soul and body type (bracha, chaim, tov) and we all had to figure out what we were and boy was that fun!
After our incredible classes it was off to….yup, you guessed it, NYC! This time we were on our way to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. It didn’t matter that it was snowing and an ice cold wind was blowing, we were getting on that ferry to see where our ancestors arrived! After our tour around Ellis Island and finding the names of family members (how cool?!?) it was back into the bitter cold and we were on our way to the Aish Center to have R’ Gavin Bolsom help us kick off the new year! Let’s just say our Jewish new year is just a tad bit different then the rest of the world’s! :)
A scrumptious, hot dinner was next and then it was time to PREPARE! In walked the hair stylists and the blow dryers began (don’t worry, the fire alarm only went off twice). While some were getting their hair done, a bunch of us went to the nearby nail salon to get our nails done. While we girls were preparing, the trip leaders were busy preparing as well. You see while experiencing New Years in Times Square is a once in a lifetime opportunity, there are many of us girls who aren’t willing to step out into the 0 degree wind chill with close to a million people, stand and wait for the ball to drop when in all likelihood we probably won’t even see the ball at anyway! So, our wonderful madrichot (Trip Leaders in Hebrew) made us a New Years party! It was awesome!!! We had music, games, movies (well sorta), snacks of all kinds, and a special homemade New Years punch! ;) We sang, we danced and took thousands of pictures! I couldn’t think of a better way to spend New Years with all my new favorite Fab Fem girls!
Our dear bus driver arrived at 1 AM and we celebrated all the way home!
Looking forward to a good nights sleep and we even get to sleep in a bit tomorrow!
Happy New Years!
